Abstract

This article presents some documents that testify the occupation of Gorriti island and harbor of Maldonado by Lusitanian-Brazilian troops. In those papers are correspondences changed between the troops of occupation of Cisplatina and the court in Rio de Janeiro, allowing us to know as it happened the organization of the Portuguese military infrastructure in the island, that finishes turning an important commercial emporium.
