Abstract

Between 1599 and 1654 the Dutch attacked and occupied the American Coast on the South Atlantic, that were part of the Portuguese Empire. On those same years Olivier van Noort in the first Dutch circumnavigation journey attacked Rio de Janeiro and Campina Grande capitulate together with the northeast withdrawal.  In this period of time (half of the 17Th century) the newest republic of the United Provinces of the Netherlands, apart from Spain’s Catholic Philip II, advanced voraciously on the colonies of the vast Spanish empire than luso-spanish scattered on American, African and Asian lands.
