Luiz Guilherme Scaldaferri Moreira

Luiz Guilherme Scaldaferri Moreira Mestre em História Social pela UFRJ (2010). Possui Bacharelado e Licenciatura Plena em História pela Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (2001). Atualmente, está vinculado à Prefeitura Municipal de São Pedro da Aldeia - RJ, onde desenvolve a pesquisa “História da Aldeia de São Pedro”. É Pesquisador no projeto “Cores da escravidão o Atlântico Sul de língua portuguesa” (c. 1720- c.1850). Tem experiência na área de História, com ênfase em História Moderna e do Brasil, e atua também na área de Educação.

Abstract

This work aims to outline a profile, both social and military, of the fortresses’ captains in the entrance of the Guanabara Bay on the second half of the 17th century. We will analyze the most important fortresses: São João and Santa Cruz. Those forts are important not only for the local protection (due to its strategic position) but also for controlling the maritime trade of the city which could not be dissociated from the military importance. Besides, this work also will dialog with the historiography’s theme.
