Abstract
The foreign submarines, Brazilian ships, and the Sergipe’s coast are places of memory that intertwine military action, the drama of the castaways and appropriations of aracajuanos in the World War II time. This article provides a historical reflection on the different social interpretations built around naval torpedoing and how those memories have generated several political clashes in the dictatorship of Getúlio Vargas.
