Abstract

Access to unpublished documentation of the Arquivo Histórico Ultramarino (Lisbon) enabled us to meet the pioneering work of the “Ouvidor” of Macau, Miguel de Arriaga Brum da Silveira, implementation of sending Chinese workers in Brazil, during the period in which the Court was established in Rio de Janeiro (1808-1821). And particularly in a project that has engaged in sending Chinese naval carpenters for the Royal Arsenal of Rio de Janeiro and also to Bahia. It remains to document how effectively reached Brazil, and took directions.
