Abstract

This article aims to look like the Riachuelo Battle figured in Dezenove de Dezembro newspaper, an important journal of nineteenth-century Paraná. Through the analysis of the news published in the midst of conflict, we will see what were the impacts that the War of Paraguay, which the Riachuelo Battle was one of its highlights, have on national Brazilian feelings and how helped to take to the provinces feelings of belonging to the Brazilian nation in formation.
