O O impacto na qualidade de vida do procedimento de clareamento dental: uma revisão sobre o tema

Abstract
Aesthetics in dentistry is one of the goals to be achieved by aiming for an improvement in the quality of life of the patient. Tooth whitening is a low-cost procedure that can be performed in the office or by the patient himself at home. Several scientific papers have proven its effectiveness and other studies have been conducted to evaluate this effectiveness with the psychosocial impact.Among the tools that have been used for this purpose are the questionnaires Oral Health Impact Profile (OHIP), Oral Impact on Daily Performance (OIDP) and Psycho-social Impact of Dental Aesthetics (PIDAQ). The present study aims to make a literature review of the impact of tooth whitening on patients' quality of life. Search Strategy: The databases PubMed, Cochrane Central, Scopus and Embase were searched. Result: A total of 224 articles were identified and 40 articles were selected, of which 13 were clinical studies. Conclusion: There seems to be a consensus in the literature researched regarding tooth whitening and improvement in quality of life. On the other hand dental sensitivity and gingival irritation have also been reported and this can lead to a negative impact on people’s lives. However, this negative effect can be avoided by an association of the correct diagnosis of the color change, the use of the ideal technique and the concentration of the whitening agent recommended by the dentist.
