Abstract

The developmental drives of sport in the Brazilian Navy had been revealed by long duration effects from the Navy Sports League, created in 1915, as much as from the Academy of the International Military Sport Council during the 1960s and 1970s. As such, this historical fact-finding reviews selected data from the second half of the 20th century which demonstrate the catalystic nature of both institutions in terms of the Navy’s relationships with civil society.
