Abstract

The authors evaluated 67 (males and female) active militaries of the Brazilian Navy, aiming analysing the prevalence of the forms of the longitudinal medial arches of the feet and make cross-sectional associations between these alterations and the presence of biophysical factors with the occurrence of pain in the feet and ankles joints.  The evaluation of the medial arch of the foot was made through the use of pedigraph and the calculation of the Chippaux-Smirak and Staheli indexes. It was concluded that the feet shape abnormality is associated with pain, but the overweight and obesity  presented a greater association.
