Hemolytic disease of the fetus and newborn (HDFN) is a pathology that starts in utero and may extend to the neonatal period, triggered by the hemolytic action of maternal antibodies on fetal erythrocyte antigens. Immunohematological, laboratory and molecular tests performed at opportune times during prenatal care are essential tools in the early identification of alloimmunized pregnancies, enabling the evolution of fetal anemia to be monitored and supporting the adequate therapy to improve the newborn’s prognosis. The article proposes protocol recommendations for perinatal care of alloimmunized pregnant women and their newborns affected by perinatal hemolytic disease.
