CALL FOR PAPERS - Dossier: "Foreign navigations, overseas dynamics: transimperial cooperation relations and maritime predation in the Iberian Atlantic (16th and 19th Centuries)."
The Navigator Journal is accepting articles until September 25, 2026, for the Thematic Dossier “Foreign navigations, overseas dynamics: transimperial cooperation relations and maritime predation in the Iberian Atlantic (16th and 19th Centuries)”, which will be part of V.22 N.44 (Dec. 2026) of the journal, organized by Professors Dr. Mayra Calandrini Guapindaia, Federal University of Mato Grosso (UFMT) and Ms. Maria Eduarda de Medeiros Brandão, Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE). This dossier seeks to bring together research on foreign navigations in the Iberian Atlantic, addressing the various forms of maritime predation directed against their territories and vessels, as well as the complex imperial relations of cooperation and rivalry – social, economic and political – that motivated such practices.
In this sense, we invite researchers who, from different temporal and thematic perspectives, propose reflections that contribute to deepening the understanding of how maritime predation and imperial relations of cooperation and rivalry have shaped the social, economic, and geopolitical configurations of this space on a global scale, as well as the different defense strategies mobilized to contain these movements.
Article submissions can be made via the link: https://portaldeperiodicos.marinha.mil.br/index.php/navigator/about/submissions, where you can also find guidelines for authors.
The Navigator Journal accepts articles in the following languages: Portuguese, Spanish, English, and French.
