Abstract

Colonia do Sacramento withstood to a siege which lasted from October 1735 to September 1737 due to the action of the Portuguese fleet, which mobilized troops from Brazil and Portugal. In this paper we will study some aspects of the fleet operations to rescue Sacramento in the River Plate, as the proposed objectives and actions taken, as well as point out the difficulties to implement the instructions received.
