Abstract

The constitutional function of the Armed Forces is to ensure the territorial security. To achieve this goal, one way is the monitoring of risks to national sovereignty in face of the modern combat scenarios more versatile and dynamic every day. The emission of biological and chemical contaminants in the atmosphere, among others forms of offensive. The predicted size of an attack of this nature can be carried out by the identification of biomarkers such as pollen and spores. These biomarkers may be used as a tool for analyzing the air mass trajectory to the geographical point sampled. Previous studies in Antarctica by national educational and research institutions demonstrated the untapped potential of this region for the study of as a defense strategy. The Brazilian Navy has conditions that allow the development of research on the use of biomarkers within the Defense scope.
